Corrosive Gases
Dry scrubbing corrosive gases
Corrosive gases can be removed from the environment by the method of dry scrubbing.
Dry scrubbing can be further broken down into three methods:
- Activated or impregnated carbon
- Impregnated activated alumina
- And a combination of the above two via one or multiple banks of media
Available media
The following selection of media is used for corrosion control and can be considered by the type of contaminants, number of contaminants, Individual and total contaminant concentration(s) and the required media lifetime.
Please consult the Heartfil engineers for your perfect choice of media.
Modules / Cylinders / trays
In order to apply our high quality chemical media in a thin bed system we offer a selection of containers.
The modules, cylinders and trays are ideal to hold and use the media in the most effective way. Key words are professional filling, low-pressure drop, efficiency and easy maintenance.
Please consult the Heartfil engineers for your perfect choice of media.

Equipment
Positive Pressure
The Purafil Positive Pressure units are self-contained, air cleaning systems and designed to provide pressurization air, free of corrosive gases.
Information and media
Recirculation
The Purafil Recirculation units are self-contained air purification systems designed to recirculate and clean the air within controlled environments.
Compressor Intake Filters
Purafil developed the Compressor Intake Filter system to eliminate serious air compressor problems such as vibration and lost efficiency by providing clean air, free of corrosive gases.

Emergency Gas Scrubbers (EGS)
Instead of using toxic liquid caustic to neutralize gases, the EGS uses dry-scrubbing media. In a release, the air / Chlorine. Sulfurdioxide or ammonia mixture from the gas storage areas is drawn into the top of the scrubber and flows through the media bed and out the bottom to the blower. The blower discharges the toxic-free air to the outside atmosphere.
Odor Control Units
The Heartfil scrubbers using Purafil media are ideal for the removal of odorous
gases found at pump stations, lift stations, wet wells, force mains, and at the
wastewater treatment plant.
Instrumentation
Because many contaminants are corrosive in nature (e.g., hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide), reactivity monitors have long been used to gauge the quality of ambient air and to indicate the effectiveness of pollution control strategies.
Heartfil uses Purafil’s reactivity monitoring technique, which is passive in nature and involves the use of copper and silver Corrosion Classification Coupons (CCC).
The Purafil OnGuard 4000 (OG4) Atmospheric Corrosion Monitor indicates the level of corrosion before severe damage occurs, preventing costly downtime and maintenance repairs. Reactivity monitoring is an accurate and reliable method of evaluating the quality of air, characterizing the room environment, and evaluating the effectiveness of chemical filters.
The OG4’s copper and silver sensors measure the rate of corrosion in real-time.
The newest filter technology
We offer the latest innovation in gas –phase filtration, such as the Purafil PuraGRID and PuraBead technology. The widely known and accepted chemical filter media is now available in different other compositions. Key words are compact design, low pressure drop, energy saving and high efficiency.
